How to Make Fruit Loop Yogurt Parfait

With school starting next week, I thought it would be fun to create a little breakfast treat for my kids to enjoy. This Fruit Loop Yogurt Parfait is fast and easy to make and it is fun for the kids to put together and only has three ingredients,

Ingredients:

Yogurt: You can use any yogurt you have on hand, Yogurt like strawberry, blueberry, and vanilla would taste great in this parfait . For mine we used vanilla. I think the subtle flavor of the vanilla really makes the cereal flavor stand out. I personally love the texture of Greek Yogurt but regular yogurt works just as well.

Cereal: The cereal is the fun main attraction to these yogurt parfaits. I just love the bright colors against the vanilla yogurt that really makes it fun and makes it stand out. You can use any kids cereal, the brighter the better. For these we used Fruit Loops, but you can also use Trix, Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs or another cereal your children love. If you’re looking for something with a bit less sugar, I have used Cheerios in these and my children love them.

Sprinkles: This is what makes these special and extra fun. The bright colors with the bright cereal really make this something the kids don’t forget. If you are doing bright and colorful, go for rainbow sprinkles. If you are going for more subtle you can use chocolate sprinkles. For special occasions you can find sprinkles to match your theme, this can be Christmas, Easter, Halloween or another holiday.

Storing Fruit Loop Yogurt Parfaits

Make and eat right away: For freshest results, it is best to make these and eat them right away so the cereal doesn’t get soggy.

In a fridge: If you want to make these ahead or in bulk it’s simple! Fill each jar 2/3 of the way with yogurt and store the sprinkles and cereal in a separate container outside of the fridge. When you are ready to eat them, you just pour the cereal and sprinkles on top and give it a good stir and eat.

To pack Fruit Loop Yogurt parfait in a Lunch bag: If you would like to pack them for lunch keep the cereal and sprinkles in a container. Place the jar of yogurt with an ice pack to keep it cold. When you are ready to eat it, pour the cereal and sprinkles over the top and enjoy.

Why you will love these Fruit Loop parfait

I am 17 years into motherhood, I gave up on the idea of quiet mornings with hot breakfast every day. Now, my life consists of fast paced mornings with whatever I can throw together as fast as possible so we can move on with our day.

These Parfaits fit us just perfectly. They are fast to make, can be made ahead and kits can throw them together on their own.

Q&A

Will the cereal get soggy?

Yes, the cereal will get soggy if it isn’t eaten right away. If you are not going to eat them within the next 10 minutes I suggest saving the cereal and sprinkles in a container and baggie. When you are ready to eat it, just pour it on the top and mix.}
To store in the fridge keep the cereal and sprinkles in a container and stored in a dry area such as a cabinet or pantry until you are ready to eat the parfait.

Can I use other cereal?

You can absolutely use another cereal. We have tried this with many different cereals and they all taste great. Just think of cereal as a replacement for granola. It is crunchy and slightly sweet. You have a number of options. Play with it and let me know your favorites!

Can this be made Dairy-Free?

absolutely! Coconut yogurt is dairy-free and has a delicious flavor. There is also soy milk yogurt and almond milk yogurt. Many cereals are dairy-free, including Fruit Loops, however you should always check labels for these ingredients.

Is this gluten free?

Most yogurts are gluten free. Fruit Loops are not. If you still want to make this fun breakfast for your kiddos, then try another cereal brand like Trix or Fruity Pebbles.
