How to Make Perfect PB&J Sandwiches (Great For Freezing in Bulk and Never Get soggy)

School is in full swing! That means having to plan your child’s lunch every day. Whether your child attends school at home or a local school, or you need a fast grab and go lunch for work, these frozen PB&J Sandwiches are very convenient. They will leave you with much more time during your day.

PB&J sandwiches

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been a staple of most childhood lunches. Let’s face it; even adults enjoy them. Making perfect frozen PB&J sandwiches is easy. As a young girl in school, I would open my lunch box. Inside, I would find PB&J and special notes from my mom. On family outings to the beach, my mother always packed the ice chest with PB&J sandwiches. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches bring back fond memories, as silly as it sounds.

PB&J isn’t a staple in my children’s lunch. Still, I love having it frozen and ready to grab. Some days. If we don’t have leftovers, lunch is simple. Open the freezer in the morning. Take out a few frozen PB&J. Set them out to thaw.

Prep Day For Bulk Meals

The great thing about meal prepping is its flexibility. You don’t need a set prep day; simply prep when you have the time. For example, I’ll sometimes prep dinners one day and freeze them, and then focus on lunches another day. I homeschool all week, and often have have errands so, weekends work best for me.

Have you ever pulled out a PB&J to have a soggy mess you don’t want to eat? Here is what I do to keep my frozen PB&J soggy-free and ready to eat.

Spread peanut butter on both slices of bread. Next, place a layer of jelly between the two peanut buttered sides. This creates a barrier that prevents the jelly from soaking into the bread.

Wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap and label them with “PB&J.” You can put them into a gallon-size bag. Alternatively, store them in bins in your freezer as I do. Stack them in a section of your freezer that kids can easily reach.

The Perfect Frozen PB&J Sandwiches

For an easy grab and go sandwich with easy prep and less mess; make these ahead and be ready for your week.
Prep Time 15 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Loaves of Bread
  • 1 Jar of Peanut butter of your choice
  • 1 Jar of jelly of your choice
  • 1 Box of Plastic wrap or sandwich bags

Instructions
 

  • Lay two slices of bread on a cutting board or clean surface
  • spread your peanut butter on both slices of bread making sure to cover the entire slice of bread
  • on one of your peanut butter slices, spread Jelly over top of the peanut butter.
  • Put both slices together (The jelly will be in the middle of both slices with peanut butter.)
  • wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap, and label, "PB&J"
  • When you want to eat one, take them out of the freezer and set in a lunch bag or the counter, let them thaw, then eat!

There you have it; they are fast and easy to make. I can usually make the sandwiches, including wrapping, using three loaves of bread in about 20-30 minutes.

Making perfect frozen PB&J in bulk

To make these in bulk, I lay a long sheet of plastic wrap or paper towel on my counter. This keeps my counter clean and cleaning up fast. Next, lay out as many slices of bread as you can fit. Place them across the plastic wrap or a paper towel.

To save time, spread peanut butter on all the bread slices first. Next, stir the jelly to loosen it up—this makes it easier to scoop and spread it evenly. Spread jelly on half of the peanut buttered slices and then place the other peanut butter slice on top.

You can wrap them in plastic wrap or store them in sandwich baggies like I do. You can also buy reusable baggies if you do this often. Next, store them into bins like these in your freezer. Make sure to store them where it is easiest for a child to reach.
